Kingsport Sculpture Walk Tours Resume

"Beginning Thursday evening, September 4, at 5:00 PM, art enthusiasts can gather at The Gallery of Local Artists, 158 Broad Street, in downtown Kingsport for a short social time before joining volunteer tour guides "

"Beginning Thursday evening, September 4, at 5:00 PM, art enthusiasts can gather at The Gallery of Local Artists, 158 Broad Street, in downtown Kingsport for a short social time before joining volunteer tour guides for a walking tour of the 13 temporary sculptures that are part of the 2008 Ò 2009 Sculpture Walk. On Thursday, September 4 join gallery owner Patti Lawrence and tour leader Bonnie Macdonald at the gallery which is located at the intersection Broad and Market streets. The tour will start at 5:30 PM. Other volunteer tour guides will lead the tour and the discussion each week. Tours continue through September on Thursday evenings: September 4, September 11, September 18 and September 25. Similar tours will be held each Wednesday morning beginning at 10 AM. For the Wednesday morning tours, meet at the Chamber of Commerce parking lot on Main Street in downtown Kingsport. The tour will begin near the sculpture ÏKneeling Communication TowerÓ. Wednesday tours will be held on September 10, September 17, and September 24. Tours last 1 hour. Participants should dress for the weather and wear comfortable walking shoes. No reservations are required and the tours are free and open to the public. For more information call 423-392-8416. The Sculpture Walk is a project of the Kingsport Public Art Committee administered by the Cultural Arts Division of the City of Kingsport and sponsored through private donations from area businesses and individuals and by the Tennessee Arts Commission.
