Arts4Kids December 2008 Workshop
Arts4Kids Offers Creative Story Writing and Illustration Workshop
![]() |
On Saturday, December 6, 2008, the Arts Council of Greater Kingsport will offer a creative writing and illustration workshop for its Arts4Kids club participants. The workshop will be held at the Kingsport Renaissance Center from 1-2:30 p.m. in room 303. This workshop will also be offered as an outreach workshop to children with the Riverview Boys & Girls Club on Friday, Dec. 5, and for children at Lee Family Center on Friday, Dec. 12, during their after-school programs.
The workshops will be led by Ms. Patricia Jessee, artist/dancer/arts administrator. Pat has molded her interests and career around the arts starting in New Orleans in 1972 and continuing in the Tri-Cities region today. International arts and cultural themes are strong in her visual vocabulary as well as in her music, dance moves, culinary tastes and writing.
Group creative story writing will begin the session followed by each student making a colorful drawing to illustrate the story. "It's wonderful to see how each previous sentence given by someone can inspire the next. After the words, the ideas for illustrations come, as well as, the realization that we all hear the same words but often have different thoughts about what they mean." remarked Pat. Following the workshop, she suggests that the students share the story with their families and have them create a drawing about the story too!
