Kingsport Art Guild’s 60th Anniversary “Recycled and Regifted Masterpieces Live Auction”

May 1, 2009

“Two heads are better than one”, they say. Several members of the Kingsport Art Guild have put this to the test and invite the community to see for themselves. Artists members have been working on each others paintings to create “Recycled Masterpieces” for the Guilds’ Live Auction to be held Friday, May 1 at the Renaissance Center, room 239, 1200 E. Center St., Kingsport. Preview of the paintings will be held from 5 – 6 p.m. with the live auction conducted by auctioneer, Mr. Terry Ball, from 6 – 7:15 p.m. The artists have donated their own paintings and through a blind drawing, have exchanged paintings with other artists in the group.   The task at hand was to solve the paintings dilemma or in some cases, just finish it for their fellow artist. Both artists’  names will be signed on the finished paintings. After several sessions, the group is ready to allow these “Recycled Masterpieces” to be auctioned for the benefit the Guild’s 60th anniversary events.

Members have also donated some of their own original works of art painted entirely by them for the auction. In addition, some have donated paintings from their personal collection to be auctioned for the fundraiser.
Most all of the paintings will be unframed and available for purchase that night by paying cash, check or credit card. Questions may be left on the Guild’s message line at 423-246-1227 and the calls will be returned.
Wine and cheese will be available for the participants. Attendees could make a night of it and stay for the ArtNightsCityLights “Red Hot and Blue Revue II” in the Renaissance Center Theater at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for the concert are available through the Renaissance Center office or online at www.KingsportARTS.org for $20 adults, $18 students or senior. Tickets for the Saturday night concert, “Saffire, the Uppity Blues Women” is also available at the same address.
