A Gift to the Community by the Kingsport Art Guild
 |
In honor of the Kingsport Art Guild’s 60th anniversary, members are making a gift of their time and expertise to community residents by presenting eleven different art workshops totally free of charge and with all materials furnished for the participants. The purpose of this gift is to allow interested individuals, 18 years of age and older, who have always been curious about a particular art medium but have never had the opportunity to try it out, the chance to do so. The first Saturday of each month (due to July 4 holiday, session will be held on July 11) beginning with May 2, from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. in the Guild’s studio, room 313 of the Renaissance Center, 1200 E. Center St., Kingsport, instruction will be given in a very warm and relaxing atmosphere to encourage and guide participants as they experience a new medium. Sessions will include pencil drawing, ballpoint pen drawing, charcoal, pastels, collage, watercolor, acrylic, oil, monotype printing, computer art and paper sculpture. Interested individuals are required to preregister and may do so by calling the Guild’s message line, 423-246-1227, and leaving their preferences for workshops along with complete contact information for a return phone call and further information to complete their registration. Due to materials being provided by the Guild, the instructors must know the exact number of those individuals who have registered. These workshops are sponsored by Eastman Chemical Co., Cultural Arts Department of the City of Kingsport, and the Kingsport Art Guild.
