Tip Tap Two

Kingsport, Tenn. (Jan. 28, 2010) –The Arts Council of Greater Kingsport and the Arts4Kids Program will be offering workshops with tap duo Tip Tap Two. The duo’s style relies on improvised steps that contain complex rhythmic and musical expressions. Workshop participants will learn to utilize every part of the tap shoe to express their creativity. The focus of each workshop will be on getting participants to complete tap combinations with speed, clarity, style, and ease. These workshops will take place in the Kingsport Renaissance Center Theater on Saturday February 27th from noon-6 PM. A separate project will be offered for the outreach workshops. Arts4Kids Outreach will be at the Riverview Boys and Girls Club on Friday Feb. 5th, at Girls Inc. on Friday Feb. 19th, and at Holly Hills and Cloud Boys and Girls Clubs on Feb. 12th.
Terrence "Taps" Bennett began studying the art of tap dancing at the age of nineteen at Norma’s Academy. Within a year he had moved from the Adult Beginner’s Class to the Advanced Level. Within two years he began performing with the Senior Company. Since then he has gone on to teach classes at studios throughout the metro Atlanta area. He has built upon his abilities as a teacher & choreographer through each of these experiences.
In addition to teaching, Terrence "Taps" has accumulated
extensive performance experience. He was a regularly featured performer at Café Tu Tu Tango where he stunned audiences each week with improvised solo performances & at Underground Atlanta. In addition, he has now performed over 150 shows as part of the dynamic tap dancing duo known as "Tip Tap Two" in association with the prestigious Woodruff Arts Center's Young Audiences program.
Arts4Kids Club is an introductory arts program for children ages 6-12 presented by the Arts Council of Greater Kingsport. Arts4Kids Club registration is $20 for the school-year program, or $5/individual workshop. The program is designed to expose children to a wide variety of arts and encourage their life-long pursuit of creative endeavors.
