About This Organization Defying time the historic Netherland Inn rises high above the Holston River in an area that has served travelers' crossroads for centuries. Richard Netherland acquired the property in 1818 and procurred a stagecoach contact to establish the site as an inn and tavern on the old Great Stage Road - the main road to Western Kentucky and Middle Tennessee. The fully preserved three-story inn features a first-floor tavern, second-floor family quarters, and a third-floor guest rooms furnished much as they were 150 years ago. The Daniel Boone Wilderness Trail starts at the Boone Cabin behind the Inn.The Hammond House located in the Boatyard Historic District is a fully restored eight-room house dating from the late nineteenth century. The architectural detail, interior decoration and antique furnishings evoke the bygone Victorian age of gas lamps and horse-drawn carriages. The Boatyard Districit is host tot he Bluegrass and Old Time Fiddlers Convention and the 1818 Candlelight Christmas Party.
