About This Organization Exchange Place, a restored 1826 frontier homestead, was once the center ofa more than 2,000 acre plantation. It also served as the stop for 19th century travelers along the Old Stage Road where Virginia currency could be exchanged for Tennessee currency and tired stagecoach horses replaces with new ones. This is how Exchange Place acquired its name. Today it is a living farm offering visitors a chance to learn and experience life as their ancestors lived. Special events during the year include the Spring Garden Fair, Marble Tournament, Farm Fest, Fall Folk Art Festival, Witches Wynde and Christmas in the Country with a yule log burning.
